Because at the bus station we asked a man for help, to find our way to the center of the city. He told us to wait 10 minutes for him to come back and as we were about to leave and ask someone else, he came back and started walking with us. We then passed his house, he told us to wait again, and he pulled out his car!
What do you do? Since we were two, we ended up getting into his car, which turned out to be the best idea we had had in a while. Normally you should not jump in a car with a stranger - but sometimes that is what will give you an amazing experience. (Sorry, mom and dad. I am safe!)
He was born in and had lived his entire life in Ibarra, so he knew everything and acted as our private guide the entire day, while driving us around. And he asked nothing in return (of course we bought him lunch.)
During the 8 hours he drove us around we visited a museum, all the parks and churches in Ibarra, a viewpoint, a lake, a part of the city famous for woodworking and he drove us around to some small villages nearby.
All in all it was a really nice trip, and we would not have managed to visit all that by only public transport. And then it was nice for once to drive around in a car.
Classical bus-ride with a bad movie. In this bus (half filled with children) they are showing a horror movie Normal bustur med en dårlig film.
